51-year-old taken to hospital after t-bone collision near Barryton

At approximately 1:04 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, a two-vehicle crash in Sheridan Township injured a 51-year-old man from Blanchard and a 57-year-old man from Remus.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Taft Road and 10th Avenue, between Remus and Barryton.

According to deputies, the Blanchard man was traveling northbound on 10th Avenue and failed to stop at a posted stop sign. He then collided with the passenger side of an eastbound vehicle driven by the Remus man.

“Both drivers sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “The 51 year-old Blanchard man was transported from the scene by Mecosta County EMS to a hospital in Mount Pleasant for treatment of minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The 57-year-old Remus man was evaluated at the scene and was released without requiring transportation.”

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Barryton Fire/Rescue, Mecosta Central Dispatch and Huff’s Towing.
